EtherCAT Master Installation on Windows PC
Welcome to Sybera – your expert for real-time communication and industrial automation on Windows PCs.
In this video, we demonstrate the step-by-step installation of the Sybera EtherCAT Master Library. For smooth operation, you need a desktop PC or notebook with the Windows operating system and an Ethernet port with a Realtek or Intel network chip.
We start by preparing the installation folder on the hard drive where the EtherCAT Master Library will be downloaded and saved.
The EtherCAT Master Library is based on the Sybera Ethernet Core Library and the SHA Realtime Engine, both of which are required for stable real-time operation under Windows.
Next, we start the installation program SySetup and run it in Administrator mode to correctly set up all system components.
Follow the installation dialogs, read the license terms, and proceed to Product Activation.
For activation, you need a PID, Serial Number, and an individual Keycode. The PID is generated hardware-dependent, and the serial number is provided by Sybera.
Click on "Get Request" to create the license request, and send it to the Sybera license server. You will then receive the keycode for activation.
In the next step, select the "Express Install" option to perform the standard installation of the EtherCAT Master Library. The default output directory is C:\ECT.
After the installation is complete, restart the PC. On notebooks, power management options in the BIOS should be deactivated to optimize the real-time behavior of the EtherCAT Master.
Verify the successful installation using the "SY License Check" tool, which must also be run in Administrator mode.
